Context

United Energy is one of the five electricity distributors powering over 700,000 (mainly residential) customers across East and South Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

United Energy’s current website had major issues including clunky architecture, an outdated look and feel and content entry issues. The overall experience was falling short of UE’s commitment to excellence in customer service.

Design Challenge

Develop a new United Energy website to deliver a seamless user experience that supports digital service delivery, meets regulatory requirements, and position United Energy as a reliable, trustworthy and innovative partner.

The redesign focused on:

  • A more intuitive navigation that links the different UE platforms and highlights United Energy's crucial role in innovation and new technologies in the field. The new navigation also ensures clear wayfinding and easy access to documents, fostering improved self-service delivery.

  • An improved dedicated section for outages with a refined interactive outage map to lower the number of enquiries and make proactive information easily accessible.

  • A new design system with a set of modules and templates that empower customers in their journey by efficiently displaying educational or informative content. The new set of modules is designed to be future-proof, facilitating the creation of upcoming campaigns and project pages while simplifying content entry for internal teams.
